Allege Murder: Police in remanded in Prison custody

An Akure Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Oke-Eda, Akure has ordered a Police Officer, Nwadikeh Anthony be remanded at Olokuta Prison custody over alleged murder.
The accused person was said to have committed the offence on 4th September, 2016 at about 6:00pm at Ore, Omifon road in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Martins Olowofeso told the court that the accused have committed punishable offence under section 316 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
Inspector Olowofeso however prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable him send the case file to the Ministry of Justice for Legal Advice.
The charge sheet reads in part; “that you Nwadikeh Anthony (54) on 4th September, 2016 at about 6; 00pm at Ore, Omifon road in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State did killed one Sunday Joseph (48) by shooting him with riffle on the stomach which resulted to his death
and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 316 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006”.
The plea of the accused person who was not represented by any Defence Counsel was not taken due to the nature of the offence he committed.
But investigation conducted by Nigerian NewsDirect revealed that the accused person was on illegal duty on the day the incident happened.
It was also learnt that following the incident the accused person have been suspended from the Nigerian Police Force for him to face his trial at the court.
In her ruling, the Presiding Magistrate Victoria Bob-Manuel thereafter ordered them to be remanded at Olokuta Prison Custody pending the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) in charge the mater.
She however adjourned the case till 12th October, 2016 for legal advice.
