Akeredolu Vows To Check Herdsmen Excesses In Ondo

The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has completed arrangements to checkmate the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state following the recent attack on the farm of Chief Olu Falae.

While reacting to the setting of the farm of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SSG), Chief Falae on fire, Akeredolu has reiterated his determination  to transmit a bill to the State House of Assembly to regulate the activities of herdsmen in the state.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Gboyega Adefarati gave the disclosure while speaking at Chief Olu Falae’s farm when he led the government delegates to the farm for on the spot assessment.

The farm which was located at Ilado community in Akure North Local Government Areas of Ondo State according to the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Chief Falae, Captain Moshood Raji was set ablaze by some suspected herdsmen on Sunday evening.

Adefarati who expressed sadness over the development however said that government would soon transmitted the bill to the State House of Assembly in order to regulate the activities of herdsmen in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju also led security personnel to the farm.

The police boss, Adeyanju who could not ascertain the cause of the fire incident informed that investigations has already commenced with a view to nabbing the culprits.

Chief Olu Falae who insisted that it was herdsmen set the farm on fire said no fewer than 120 hectares of land was affecting palm oil and cassava plantains.
