Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday, advised his new deputy governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal to see his new office as a position of trust
The governor stated this while speaking at the swearing-in and oath office of Barrister Lawal by the state Chief Judge, Justice Muntar Abimbola as the new Deputy Governor of Oyo State, held at the Executive Chambers of the Oyo State Governors Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan,
According to Governor Makinde, Barrister Lawal’s new appointment was as a result of the successes he achieved in other capacity he had served under the present administration in the state.
He stressed that the reward for hard work is more work and that the new deputy governor’s position is an evidence that he excelled in his previous position.
” The position of the Deputy Governor is a position of trust and our masters are the people of the state. Let me encourage you to put the interest of the good people of Oyo State first. Your new position is an evidence that you excelled in your previous position”, he said.
Governor Makinde added, ” the reward for hard work is more work and that is why we are giving you more task.
” You will continue to supervise the Housing Corporation even from your position as the Deputy Governor. Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency will also be under your direct supervision. The ministry of Justice will also be under your directive having served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state in time past.”
The swearing-in was attended by the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin who led other principal officers of the Assembly, service commanders, party chieftains, and top government officials among others.
New Nigerian recalls that the state’s immediate past deputy governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan was earlier in the day impeached by the state House of Assembly.
The state House of Assembly also later in the day approved the nomination of Barrister Adebayo Lawal by Governor Seyi Makinde as his Deputy Governor.
