The Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Prof. Mala Mohammed Daura, has commended the efforts and commitment of the Nigerian Arabic Language Village, Gamboru- Ngala for its commitment towards the teaching and learning of Arabic language in Nigeria.
A statement issued and signed by Abdulmumin Kolo Gulani,Office of the Vice Chancellor,Yobe State University Damaturu and made available to journalists in Maiduguri on Thursday, said the commendation was made during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Yobe State University and the Nigerian Arabic Language Village, Gamboru- Ngala.
Prof. Daura while appreciating the efforts of the Director/CEO, Prof. Ibrahim Muhammad said ,”with the singing of the MoU between the University and the Village, the two institutions stand a chance of benefiting from the cooperation and collaboration.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director/CEO, Prof. Ibrahim Muhammad thanked the University for establishing a productive working relationship with Nigerian Arabic Language Village, Gamboru- Ngala since the establishment of the University which resulted into signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Village today.
He revealed that the MoU focuses on the following areas of cooperation between the two institutions; language Immersion Programme for 300 level students of Arabic language in accordance with the Act establishing the Village; organizing capacity building trainings and workshops for lecturers of Arabic language; teaching and innovative research in Arabic Studies; exchange of academic staff through sabbatical and visiting of adjunct staff, students exchange and excursion visits etc; organizing joint lectures, seminars and conferences as well as any other avenue that will enhance the teaching and learning of Arabic language.
