World Bank To Support Social Protection Programme Across Nigeria

The Federal Government in its effort has address extreme poverty and other forms of vulnerability has designed National Social Safety-Nets Programme (NASSP) in collaboration with the World Bank to support the sustainability of the social protection programme across Nigeria.

The Commissioner of Kaduna State Ministry of Rural and Community Development,  Engineer Usman Hassan expressed this on Friday during the  flag off disbursement of funds to less privileged which held in Kaduna.

According to him, the Cash Transfer component is to give the selected poorest and most vulnerable household (beneficiary) a monthly cash of Five Thousand Naira Only (5,000.00) in order to enhance their consumption level.

The Commissioner noted presently, 21 states are participating in the National Cash Transfer Programme and Kaduna State inclusive. It is a three years (3) programme which commenced in 2016.

He explained that, the selected CTFs were drawn from the three Senatorial zones as started from Northern Senatorial Zone, Ikara LGA, Kubau Local Government Area, Lere Local Government Area.

He continued in his explanation, the Central Senatorial Zone comprised of Birnin Gwari  Local Government Area, Chikun  Local Government Area, Kajuru Local Government Area.

He added that, the Southern Senatorial Zone, are Kachia Local Government Area,  Kauru  Local Government Area, Sanga Local Government Area.

He disclosed that, the flag off  disbursement of the N5,000.00 Cash Transfer Programme of the Federal Government will be disbursed to 10,623 households of 9 Local Government in Kaduna State.

The beneficiaries were present at the venue, as they show appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and the state Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai in their efforts to put smile on their faces.

One of the beneficiary, Amina Isa who spoke on behalf of others, said the fund will go a long way and it will enhance their consumption level, she said.
