Women’s Day: Kaduna Golf Club Woos New Members With Clinic, Walk

*Commissioner vows to register, urges others to do same

As part of activities to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day, the Kaduna Golf Club (KGC) 1921  has held a clinic and walk, tagged, “Women’s Golf Day” with the  theme: “Walk the Course, Learn the Game” on Tuesday June 7, 2022.

Special Guest, Commissioner of Human Services and Rural Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba in an interview with sports writers on the sidelines, said that she said she enjoyed herself and wants to register as a member of Kaduna Golf Club.

“I also urge all my colleagues, female commissioners and other women to come and register, to build relationship between those in government and female golfers,” she added.

Also speaking,  Captain Kaduna Golf Club,  Engineer Aminu Bagudu Ibrahim said that it will be an annual event. 

“It is our desire that the KGC has impact on environment. We did Children’s Day Golf, we decided to do Women’s Day and other activities on days marked nationally.

“We want to add value to society, while pushing for membership and ensure people are healthy.

“We would love to identify with women, being pillars of society. We wish them a happy day,” he said.

For the Lady Captain of the club,  Hajiya Hussaina Zubair Jibril, she commended all the members of the club for their  contributions  that made the activity successful.

According to her, 15 ladies  have registered so far as at time of filing the report, with optimism that more would turn up.

” Immediately after the golf clinic, we will walk two holes or  three holes, depending on their strength.

“Wednesday is women kitty in the club. We want to start coaching them every Wednesday. We have given them forms, so they are registering as our members,” she disclosed.

During the beginners’ clinic, resource person, Professional Golfer Omole Ayotunde said that golf is a game in which every part of the body is active.

He said other sportsmen retire into playing golf, which he said is a lifetime sports.

“In golf there is no old age. You have been hearing of Tiger Woods for a long time, he is still there, but several footballers have retired.

He said a standard golf bag contains 14 clubs, which he showed them.obe after the other, explaining what each is used for.

Answering a question from a curious participant, Ayotunde replied  that the belief that golf is a rich man’s game is not true.

He said a set of golf bag can be purchased with a pocket friendly price of N100,000
