The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured Nigerians of its resolve in salvaging the country from what it described as  its “sorrow situation to that  of absolute purposeful leadership to more dynamic, and democratic rule composed with vision and articulated agenda of self restoration of peace and hope for Nigerians”.
“It is a pity to note most of the promises made by the present leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)  right from  from the top to down, to states is a mirage as most of the promises are yet to be redeemed by the APC due to its failed agenda, to the extent that most Nigerians are convinced that APC is a colossal failure in  meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the larger majority of Nigerians”
Baring his mind on the state of the nation among other burning issues while speaking to newsmen on the platform of Media Engagement with the members of the Jigawa Correspondent Chapel of the NUJ, the Jigawa State PDP Chairman, Alh Babandi Gumel said, “part of the strategy of the opposition party is  we’re trying putting up a united front in mending and resolving all our impending internal squabbles, among others.”
According to Gumel, most of hardship experienced by Nigerians is the handiwork of the APC   as such calamities are resulting to the country’s backwardness in different facets of human endeavors be it the destruction of  security,  decadence of the social infrastructures,  depression of the Naira in international market, among others.
“The choice lies in the hands of Nigerians to either vote for competency, and hard work  based on merit not on personality of a candidate, for us to forge ahead against re-electing abstract leaders without capacity and exposure to lead,  going by the antecedents of what we are experiencing at the moment with our present leaders, as eight years performance of the present APC leadership is enough for the people or eligible voters to spot the difference in future general elections.
“In order to effect changes, we the opposition  are determined,  working towards putting additional efforts with strong measures and strategy in place in our quest in confronting the ruling  APC in the 2023 general elections, putting our house in order, and our stand and commitment.
“Also, we will work towards improving the general wellbeing of Nigerians, restoration of public confidence, resuscitation of our collapsed infrastructure, rejuvenate our security network to ensure steady protection of lives and property of the  citizenry for better living,” he added.
Coming down to his state Jigawa, Gumel commended Governor Badaru for honoring continuity in completion of most of the inherited projects of the PDP-led administration of former Governor Sule Lamido.
On his assessment on the ruling APC in his state, he threw the challenge to the people of the state to make comparison between the past governance and the present one.
“If we have achieved, the people are in better position to assess. Likewise, if we failed compared to what is obtainable now on ground,” he added.
