The leader of  Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye on Wednesday declared the body and it’s leaders are ready to fight for the self determination of Yoruba Nation .
Professor Akintoye said this in a virtual message to inaugurate the  Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide Elders Advisory Council, held at the body’s headquarters in Ibadan
He stressed that there will be no going back in the group’s determination at realising the self determination for the entire Yoruba nation.
“We are ready to fight for the self determination of Yoruba Nation until we succeed. There are some things the elders can do that the youths cannot do, of course the youth are also key towards the realisation of Yoruba Nation through protests, rallies, social media, and others but they also need the elders to champion the course”, he said.
Professor Akintoye maintained that the Elders Advisory Council is to liase with traditional rulers and other stakeholders towards making the dream of the self determination comes to reality.
The Ilana Omo Oodua leader while stressing that the youth cannot drive the course alone, urged that it is now time for all lovers of  development of Yoruba land to joined hands towards making the dream a reality and success.
The Chairman of the Elders Advisory Council, Alhaji Ali Oyedeji while speaking disclosed that his members will collectively engage critical stakeholders in Yorubaland to key into the Yoruba redemption agenda for it’s peaceful approached toward it’s realisation.
Alhaji Oyedeji declared that the recent attempt by some people occupying strategic position in the group at blackmailing the leadership of the organization is dead on arrival and cannot hold
Speaking with newsmen at the inauguration, the spokesman for the body, Mr Maxwell Adeleye rubbished the claim by the Department of Security Service (DSS) that there were plans to extradite the Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho from Republic of Benin to Nigeria
Comrade Adeleye said the claim was just to evade payment of the N20.5 billion cost awarded against DSS by an Oyo state High court for unlawful invasion of Igboho’s residence in Ibadan, saying, the Nigerian government has not filed any extradition charge against Sunday Igboho as claimed by the DSS.
” Let me say this, they don’t want to pay the fine and that is why they wanted to quash the judgement, also, the appeal for stay of execution that was filed by DSS has not been granted by the court”.
