The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom has declared that the candidates of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in the three states of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi remain the candidates to beat.
The declaration was made known through a statement made available to the newsmen in Abuja in the early hours of today.
According to the statement, the publicity secretary of the party in the United Kingdom, Mr Jacob Ogunseye asserted that All Progressives Congress (APC) has put out some of its best in the elections, describing the trio of Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Chief Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State and Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi state as the finest of their generations with vast experience to rebuild their states.
Ogunseye appealed to the people of the three states to cast their votes for the candidates of APC in Saturday’s election with the assurance of no regret as the candidates will go out of their way to ensure the best for the citizenry.
“Our people should consider other factors before casting their votes on Saturday. APC candidates remain the best going through any form indexes. In experience, these gentlemen stand out, their maturity is second to none, intellectual capabilities required for such offices are much pronounced with these candidates.
“As a people, we have no iota of doubt in the capabilities of the men to turn their states around in the next four years, go to Imo state, the last 4 years have not been a business as usual, a lot of development projects were started, some of them have been commissioned, what of human capital development?
“Gov. Hope Uzodinma has written his name in gold, and his efforts in revamping the health sector have become global spectacles, what of the giant stride in the education and other sectors? Despite the security challenges in the state, the governor has made himself a rallying point, it is necessary that we give him another chance to pilot the ship of the state to a glorious bay.
“In the case of Chief Timipre Sylva of Ebonyi state, the roads he built years back while serving as the governor of the state is an attestation to his stern leadership, his experiences as governor and two-term minister is an opportunity for the good people of Bayelsa state to one again re-ignite the fire of progress in the state. No doubt, the state is in the wrong hands, we need to strike the gold in Chief Sylva.
“As we all know, Kogi state is blessed with numerous politicians most especially from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as a great apostle of Governor Yahaya Bello, Alhaji Usman Ododo is a rare specimen of a politician with the blend of technocrat desperately needed to enhance the good work of the outgoing governor in the state. Alhaji Ododo has what it takes having been in the corridor of administration for some years, Kogi state people should be wary of those politicians who are only available during elections,” the statement added.
Similarly, the chairman of the chapter, J K Adebola pleads with the voters to ensure free and fair elections to deepen our democracy. Adebola urged voters to ensure they vote for APC being the party at the centre and for the experience of their candidates to ensure the best for their states.
“I am sure we are all aware of the coming election this weekend; it is a battle for either progress or otherwise, it is a fight between the downtrodden and a few rich, as a party, we stand with you at all times, we are the progressives, the cause of the downtrodden remain our core pursuit, elevating the poor remain our focus, we won’t rest until these are achieved, this is why you should keep your fate in our great party by casting your votes for our candidates,” the statement concluded.
