Use Quality Seeds NASC Charges Farmers

National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC) has advised farmers to always use good and qualitative seeds in their farms during planting.

The North-Weat Regional Director NASC, Alh. Hudu Ubandoma   gave the advise during a green field day organized by the Nagari Seed Nigeria Ltd and SAHEL Consultant from Netherland at Tohu Village demonstration site in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Ubandoma said that the Nagari Seed for many decades, has been in the forefront of providing good seeds to Nigerian farmers.

The director used the occasion to warn farmers who make it habitual to buy grains as seeds to stop the bad habit for their own good.

He expressed hopes that Nagari Seeds will continue to produce qualitative seeds for farmers to benefit from the company.

In his remarks, the Director of Nagari Seed Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Boman Abbah, said the Green Field Day is the fist stage of farm inspection.

Mr. Boman also assured farmers that the company will continue to provide good seeds that will make them witness bumper harvests at the end of the season.

The director advised Tohu Community to come through associations in order to benefit from its social responsibility.

Also, the representative of Sahel Consultant, Mr. Olisemi Bubah said, the Green Field Day is to showcase the level of achievements made so far from  day one of the plantation.

Mr. Bubah charged farmers to shift from their local ways of planting in order to meet their farm produce needs by embracing  new technologies on their various farms.

He said, in Kaduna State, Sahel Consultant in collaboration with Nagari Seed Nigeria Ltd is conducting trials in five different locations.

According to him, Sahel Consultant is supporting the seed company to make  farmers realise the benefit attached to  modern farming techniques.

Earlier, the Extension Agent, Aliyu Umar  highlighted to the farmers  how the plantation began from the land preparation to its present state.

Aliyu Umar advised farmers to always ask questions on what they don’t know or understand on the new farming techniques, particularly on the climate change.
