A consultant at the two-day engagement with Journalists in Zaria organised by the Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn (PERL), in collaboration with Kaduna State Basic Education Accountability Mechanism (KADBEAM), Mr. Ehis Agbon has tasked communities in Kaduna State to come together and address the barriers facing girl-child education in the state.

He expressed this in an interview with newsmen after the session ended on Tuesday November 16, 2021.
“My call to communities is to know that there are several barriers to education of the girl-child and if government provides solution, education will improve and governance will be better.
“From the various discussions we had on this engagement, we discovered insecurity in schools can become a thing of the past if communities work together,.
“Also every school must have fence with gates attached to it,” he said.
Speaking further, Mr.  Agbon.said that the engagement is aimed at ensuring media practitioners have a clear understanding on KADBEAM’s Scorecard that was presented during the engagement.
“Every media practitioner should be able to understand budgeting process and how it works,” he stressed.

In a separate interview, Assistant Secretary, Kaduna State Basic Education Accountability Mechanism (KADBEAM), Joshua James  said that education needs more funding.

“Huge investment in education is the keyword. The scorecard presented shows that a lot needs to be done
“Govt needs to invest in girls education. We need to see massive investments. Before COVID-19 statistics showed 49 per cent of  girls  enrollment  and 51 per cent for boys  from the 2019 to 2020 annual school census reports,” he said.
James said that   media practitioners need to use their medium in sensitizing community on importance of girls education.
“We are happy foreign partners are coming with funds to invest in girls education,” he added.
