A 5-Storey building located at Ngbabor, Presco Campus of Ebonyi State University has collapsed with no casualty recorded.
In a visit to the scene of the incident opposite Prince Marice Hostel, sympathizers from the neighborhood including government officials were seen inspecting the collapsed building which is still under construction to ascertain what happened that led to such incident.
A team of police officers and neibourhoodwatch also came to cordon the environment to prevent any casualty and also to examine the circumstances that led to the collapse of the building.
According to an eye witness who wouldn’t want her name on print, the building collapsed around 2:00pm on Tuesday afternoon.
She further explained that the labourers at the building who are suspected to be Yorubas working on the building site, ran away immediately the building vibrated and was about to collapse.
As it is presently, one of the twin buildings is still standing after the other collapsed.
People from the area were warned by government officials not to go close to the remaining uncompleted building for their own safety.
All efforts made to get the reaction of Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr.Chris Anyanwu proved abortive.
