Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani on Tuesday has provided free community eye care surgeries and Consultation Exercises for 3,600 patients in the State.
Governor Uba Sani made this known at the flag-off of free community eye care and surgeries in Kaduna State held at Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital in Kaduna.
Speaking at the occasion, Uba Sani said the free eye surgery is for the vulnerable and the poor in the state, therefore it is an intervention to prevent dreadful implications of loss of sight.
“At least 3,600 indigent persons from the three geopolitical zones of the state will benefit from this exercise.
“The exercise will comprise 600 surgeries and 3,000 consultations with free medications and distribution of eyeglasses,” he said.
According to him, the initiative is a collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and Qatar Charity Organisation.
The Kaduna State Government in collaboration with Qatar Charity Organisation aims to provide free community eye care and surgeries in the state.
He said in the year 2023, the Qatar Charity agreed to conduct medical regular outreaches in the state.
“The exercise today is a joint team lead by the deputy governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Sabuwa Balarabe,” he said, while commending the team for its commitment and dedication.
“In this collaborative arrangement, Qatar Charity is responsible for the provision of technical staff instruments and drugs while the Kaduna State Government is responsible for the support staff, logistics, accomodations and security of the exercise.
“I call on our dear citizens especially the poor and vulnerable to avail themselves of this opportunities come forward for the free eye screening their health is our responsibilities.
“Qatar charity has done a lot for us in Kaduna State in a tune of millions, because we are running a transparent government. I thank you for the support of Kaduna State,” he said.
