Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has said that traditional rulers contribute selflessly towards the progress of this great nation especially in terms of peace, unity and security for decades which has been one of the reasons that traditional institutions need to be given more considerations in the Nigerian constitution.

He made this disclosure in his remarks during a special lecture in memory of late Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardaunan Sokoto organised by Kano State Government held at Coronation Hall, Government House.

He assured that Nigeria’s traditional rulers remain respected for their contributions and determination to make this country great.

In his speech, the chairman of Northern States Governors Forum and the Plateau State Governor, Mr. Simon Bako Lalong announced that the they would present a recommendation for the inclusion of traditional rulers into the full capacity service in Nigeria’s constitution to maintain their contributions to national growth.

Earlier, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State recalled that late Sardauna of Sokoto and the Premier of the Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello lived an exemplary life where his actions are still great contributions that are beneficial to the people and the nation in general.

Ganduje added that Kano State Government decided to organise the symposium in order to extol the virtues of the late hero who sacrificed his life to ensure that Nigeria and the Northern Region become more developed in every sector.
