Three Incumbent Jigawa Senators Lose Bid To Return To Red Chambers

Three incumbent Jigawa Senators have lost their bids in the just concluded All Progressives Congress, Senatorial primaries elections.

Two of them, Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, representing Jigawa North Central, and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hedejia, representing Jigawa North East lost their bids to either secure the party’s governorship ticket, nor to retain their positions.

Reports indicate that the two Senators lost to the incumbent Deputy Governor, Malam Umar Namadi who scored popular votes, while Senator representing Jigawa North West senatorial district, Abdullahi Danladi Sankara lost his bid after he withdrew from the contest for the ticket of Jigawa Northwest Senatorial Zone few minutes to the commencement of the primary elections to the immediate past Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, and also the “Walin Kazaure” with 527 votes to emerge the party’s Senatorial candidate.

His withdrawal was contained in a letter sent to the APC, based on personal grounds.

This means that none of the three current Jigawa Senators will return to the Red Chambers come 2023 general elections.

Jigawa North Central was won by Ibrahim Gaya, while Pharmacist Ubale Hashim won the ticket for Jigawa North East.

Jigawa North West was won by a former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of works, Babangida Hussain, who defeated Senator Abdullahi Ojo with 527 to 74 votes.
