Suspected kidnappers are in Police custody in Kano State for failing in their first kidnapping attempt.

Their failure followed when they kidnapped a businessman, Alhaji Ali Falaka (70), in Bunkure LGA and demanded a N20m ransom.

Isiya Haruna (22), the leader of the suspects, speaking when they were paraded by the police, explained that it was their first time and that they formed a team with another group of four people to commit the offence.

He said they were unable to get the N20m they demanded as ransom, they were arrested while the victim was rescued.

He further explained, “In my team we are four in number. We met with another team of four and attacked the residence and whisked away the victim. We hid inside rocks in Bunkure near one village called Gindin Dutse.”

According to him, before they could go anywhere in their illicit act, they started regretting it, saying that the other team has ran while four of them were all arrested.

He stated that he had never hold N20,000 of his own, when asked what they would do with the N20m demanded as ransom, saying that they just demanded for it just to see if they will ask for negotiation.

Muhammed Usaini Gumel, the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), explained that the suspects were arrested following a sustained follow up coupled with intelligence-led operations.
