Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun on Monday advised residents in the state trading under high-voltage power cables and on the streets to vacate now to avoid disasters.
The Commissioner who gave the advice also cautioned the residents
against waste disposal habits during the rainy season.,
He maintained that there was the need for the people of the state to be wary of staying under the electric wire/pole especially during the rainy, saying,the government owes the citizens to sensitize and educate them against natural disasters.
Mr Arulogun stressed that the state government is committed to infrastructural development in the state, and that other bad roads across the state will be attended to in batches.
The Commissioner pointed out that already, the state government has commenced the rehabilitation of additional seven roads across the state with the rehabilitation of Iyanganku/NTC road, Eleta/Odinjo/Muslim road, Beere/Oranyan/Orita Aperin road and Ogbomoso High School/Baptist High road.
According to the Commissioner, the roads “are either being rehabilitated, renovated and reconstructed through its agency; Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA)” and that Ariyo Box culvert at Olorunsogo/Akanran road, Iyana Church/Oyeniyan along Iwo road/Olodo road and Ologuneru/Abanla/Alafara road are also being attended to.
Mr Arulogun however called on the citizens plying the rehabilitated roads to exercise patience as the flow of traffic would be affected during the ongoing repairs and that the citizens should protect government properties against vandalization as resources expended on vandalized properties could be channeled to other areas.
