Social Workers To Converge On Calabar For 38th AGM

Social Workers across the country are to storm Calabar, Cross River State capital next month for the 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM)/National Conference of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW). 

The National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association, Mr. Musliudeen Adebayo made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan on behalf of the President of the association, Alhaji Mashood Mustapha.

Mr Adebayo stated that those expected as participants at the conference themed, “Ubuntu: I am because we are, strengthening social solidarity and global connectedness”, include social workers, academics, policy makers, international and local civil society organizations, development partners and students. 

The NASoW National Public Relations Officer (PRO) stressed further that the conference will afford social workers across the country to have the annual national conference, annual general meeting, election of new national executives and awards presentation to individuals and organisations that have excelled in their chosen fields. 

Emphasizing that the conference will afford Social Workers within and outside the country the opportunity to interact, share ideas and knowledge, career opportunities both at home and overseas and other related issues as well asp feature papers presentation, technical sessions will take place between 15th and 19th November. 

The statement reads,

“Distinguished Social Workers, I bring you another message of hope. This is to inform you that the 38th NASoW AGM and National Conference has been scheduled to take place between 15th and 19th November this year in Calabar, Cross River state.  

” The Nigeria Association of Social workers (NASoW) – the umbrella Professional Body of all social workers in Nigeria, also a member nation of International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW).

“In furtherance of the global and National objective of promoting social work practice has planned to host Year 2022 Annual General conference meeting, election, and awards presentation with the heme– “Ubuntu: I am because we are, strengthening social solidarity and global connectedness.

“Venue: Axari Hotel, off Muritala Mohammed highway, along winners’ way, Cross River State. 

Arrival Date: Tuesday 15th November, 2022. Conference: Wednesday 16th November, 2022. AGM: Thursday,17th November, 2022. Election and award Night: Friday,18th November, 2022. Departure: Saturday,19th November, 2022. 

“The 38th AGM/ National conference will be hosted by the Cross River State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers. The choice of Cross River state to host the AGM is in recognition of the contributions of the chapter towards the development of the association.
