Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto’s Personal Aide on Building, Alhaji Muhammadu Kankiya ( known as Mamam Kankiya) has died at the age of 95 after a brief illness.He died at his No 1 Marnona Road residence located at Unguwar Sarki GRA in the state after spending weeks in hospital.
It was gathered that Mamman Kankiya died around 7 am Monday.
Thousand of people attended his funeral which was led by Kaduna based Islamic Scholar Dr Ahmad Mahmud Gumi at Sultan Bello Mosque.
The prayer was conducted around 1:15 pm in the mosque.
Late Kankiya’s Son, a Custom Officer, Wailu Muhammad Kankiya described him as the best father in the whole world.
“Baba, is a father who believed in advising us his son when we did something wrong. He hardly beat a child but will advised you to make correction in life.
“He loves people, he takes every child as his. We are going to miss him no doubt. May Allah give him Jannatul Firdausi, Amin,” he said.
Late Mamman Kankiya left behind 11 Children; 6 males, 3 females and a wife. It was gathered that his second wife died in year 2000.
Among dignitaries that honored his funeral are Sheikh Sanusi Gumbi, District Head of Doka, Comrade Zubairu Shan’una among other Islamic Scholars.
