The Jahun College of Health Technology has decried shortage of professional lecturers who will man four major departments of the College.
The Director, Dr. Surajo Suleiman disclosed this while speaking to our reporter.
The four departments according to him, are the College Dispensing of Dictionary (Optimetress), Bio- medical Engineers, DOP Department and the HIM Departments.
According to the Director of the institution, “even though we have strived hard in engaging the services of five professional staff to the college clinic, we still require more professional hands in offering our students professional health courses”.
Dr. Suleiman further said that, “at the moment, we need at- least 25 additional staff who are vast in different medical line, especially in Dispensing of Dictionary and Bio- medical Engineering Departments of our college.”
On activities of the college, Dr. Surajo said, “we were able to give this vibrant health institution a face lift through the execution of different meaningful projects aimed at uplifting the standard in meeting NBTE requirements for the accreditation of other professional health courses in our college.
” I am pleased to inform you that we were able to carry-out major school renovation in different formats to the tune of over N5m through provision of stable water supply, lighting dark spots, provision of adequate security, three computer sets and printers to three of our major departments, among others.
“Others include the creation of a vibrant Entrepreneur Department in offering skillful opportunities for self reliance to our students as well as the manufacturing of lighter items such as production of pure water, soft drinks, and snacks, etc selling at cheaper rates to students for the college to generate internally generated revenue.”
On the institution’s challenges, Dr. Surajo called for increase in funding, a 500-capacity female hostel to address the issue of shortage of accomodation, lack of drainages and a college auditorium.
