Senator representing Kaduna Central, Comrade Shehu Sani has hit at Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, over comments on transparency in National Assembly budget, attributed to him, saying the governor is unfit to speak on transparency for collecting local government allocations for two years without elected council chairman in place.
Sani who stated this in an in interview with journalists on Monday, said he is more than 100 per cent behind Speaker Dogara ,over his remarks.
“How can a governor who has collected local government allocations for two years without an elected local government council Chairmen in place talk about transparency,
“How can a governor with security votes without publishing what he has as a security votes talk of transparency,” Sani stated.
Senator Sani also stressed that any public office holder/servant who was not courageous enough to declare his assets, as exemplified by president Buhari, shouldn’t be talking of transparency.
“Anybody in APC who talks about transparency, first of all should have the courage to tell the world what he declared at the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB,” he maintained.
According to Senator Sani, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Foreign Debt, there are millions of Nigeria’s locked wealth in Dubai and other countries overseas that do not reflected in the CCB protected by law of clarity and confidentiality, stressing that anybody who cannot tell country publicly, the amount of money he has in foreign and local accounts, the number of houses, ships, how and when he acquired them, has no moral right to talk about transparency.
