Catch-22 is a satirical novel written by   John Yossarian, a bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Forces. The novel is known for introducing the term “Catch-22,” which has since become a common phrase in the English language.

In the book, a Catch-22 is a paradoxical situation in which an individual is unable to escape a particular set of circumstances . The term “Catch-22” is often used to describe situations where an individual is trapped by contradictory rules.

Seyi Tinubu, the son Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has become a catch 22 for some media house in recent years. On one hand, his family name gives him a certain level of notoriety and attention, which is a valuable asset for media outlets looking to generate clicks and views to feast on. On the other hand, this same notoriety is also  a double-edged sword, as Seyi Tinubu has found himself the target of negative press and baseless accusations simply because of his last name.

For those who may not be aware, Seyi Tinubu is a successful businessman and entrepreneur in his own right. Despite his success, however, Seyi Tinubu has been the subject of numerous articles, blog posts, and social media rumors that seek to discredit him based solely on his family ties.

One reason for this is the fact that Seyi Tinubu’s father is a dominating figure in Nigerian politics, who is the only politician in Nigeria that can boast of building several people from every tribe and region of this country irrespective of religion or tribe. This has made his family a target for media scrutiny and public criticism, even when he is not directly involved in public office running.

Another reason why Seyi Tinubu has become a catch 22 for the media is the rise of social media influencers and bloggers. In recent years, there has been a proliferation of “influencer culture” in Nigeria, with many young people seeking fame and fortune through social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter. Some of these influencers have taken to using Seyi Tinubu’s name in their posts and articles in order to generate clicks and views.

Unfortunately, this has led to a situation where Seyi Tinubu’s name is often associated with negative rumours and baseless accusations. For example, there have been rumours that he is involved in money laundering and other illegal activities, simply because of his family ties. These rumours have been debunked time and time again, but they continue to circulate on social media and in some media outlets.

The truth is that, Seyi Tinubu’s only “crime” is being the son of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has worked hard to build a successful business and has made a name for himself in his own right. Yet, he continues to be the target of baseless accusations and negative press simply because of his last name. This is a catch 22 for the media, as they can generate clicks and views by writing about Seyi Tinubu, but they also risk damaging their own reputations by perpetuating false rumors and accusations.

Seyi Tinubu’s situation is a cautionary tale for the media and for social media influencers. While it may be tempting to use his name to generate attention and relevancy, it is important to remember that he is a real person with a real reputation. Baseless accusations and rumours can have real-world consequences, and it is important to verify information before publishing. Ultimately, the media has a responsibility to report the truth and the truth should not always be a version that must always tickle their fancy, even if it is not the most sensational or attention-grabbing story. They should learn to say it the way it is, Anything short of the truth will amount to the story of the snake and the firefly that goes like these:

The snake began to chase a firefly that only lived to shine.

The firefly stopped and said to the snake:

“Can I ask you three questions?”

The snake said, “Yes.”

– Do I belong to your food chain ?

The snake said, “No.”

Did I do anything to you?

The snake said, “No.”

Then why do you wanna devour me?

“The snake replied, “

“Cause I can’t stand to see you shine.””.

Moral of the story.

Often, some people can’t stand to see Seyi Tinubu shine, and that’s why they act like snakes, silent and ready to destroy him through bad reportage.

Most times, the literature on  Seyi Tinubu by bad press men  creates unnecessary tension in frail minds who do not understand tactical blackmail in disguise. This act is used to arm twist others into aggravated annoyance and hatred for Seyi Tinubu. God bless Seyi Tinubu my dogged leader.
