Senator Bala Emerges Bauchi PDP Guber Candidate

Governor Bala Mohammed  on Saturday, bounced back as the sole gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State after his last week’s botched attempt to clinch the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Senator Bala Mohammed was into the gubernatorial primary election weekend shortly after the incumbent candidate of the party and his erstwhile Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Kassim Mohammed last week voluntarily stepped down for him to carry the governorship flag to the 2023 polls.

The governor was last week gallantly defeated in the PDP presidential primary elections where he contested along with the likes of Atiku Abubakar, Governor Nyesom Wike, Senator Bukola Saraki, among other aspirants.

Mohammed, in the Saturday’s primary election polled 646 votes from the accredited 646 delegates with 10 delegates in absentia from Zaranda Hotel, venue of the election. The PDP in Bauchi has altogether 656 total delegates.

Speaking shortly after he was declared winner, the governor said, “I thank Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala, my family and the People’s Democratic Party, and the people of Bauchi for giving me the opportunity”.

“You are aware I had gone on a solo trip to ran for the presidency of Nigeria and that did not work, but today I must thank my brother the Secretary to the State Government who felt that I should be given the opportunity to go for a second term in office as the governor of Bauchi state by stepping down for me”.

The Governor added, “What he has done is not only a sign of loyalty, but a spirit of comradeship which he expressed and I would not take that for granted. I’m very grateful to God, I’m grateful to the PDP family, I’m grateful to him. I will not disappoint him, and I must also thank our national officers for also accepting to once again give the opportunity to run”.

“I have always say that politics is a very nice game, I’m ready to do it the way we did it before. I’am aware that the other parties have brought about their contestants and we are going to play the politics of give and take, and it is not a war, it is a competition, and we are going to put our profile and antecedence to the electorate to give the opportunity once again”.

He positioned, “We have done so much over the past three years, but I’m aware politics is not about projects and programmes, politics is about carrying everybody along. I’m ready to carry everybody along and as a party man, what happen during the presidential primary election I have put it behind my back, “im ready to work for the PDP from the presidential level to the House of Assembly level”.

Senator Bala Mohammed pledged to lead with justice and equity, as he has no laziness in his dictionary, stressing “Nobody will lack behind within the state constituencies. I thank you most sincerely, I thank officials of INEC for the patience to come and witness this memorable event, as well as the party’s electoral
