A multi-million Naira Sports Centre, meant to ease activities on Uyo Township Stadium and Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, all in Uyo,Akwa Ibom State Capital, is to be commissioed by the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan.
The Sports Complex facilitated by Senator Bassey Akpan, member representing Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district at the National Assembly is located in Ifa Ikot Akpan community, Uyo Local Government Area.According to a statement issued by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the event, Chief Okon Usung, the Complex is among constituency projects to be inaugurated during a Thanksgiving Service holding at the instant of Senator Akpan to thank God for His faithful upon his life and family next week end in Uyo.
Governor Udom Emmanuel alongside the PDP National President, Senator Iyorchia Ayu will among other top personalities to grace the project commissioning.
The Complex which will also serve as a community centre and youth development centre is located on two acres of land on the outskirts of Uyo metropolis along the Airport Road.
The complex among other facilities, has a standard football field, basket ball pitch, lawn tennis court, and a 1,500 capacity event centre. The complex also has an ICT hub, a dedicated transformer, water treatment facility, bar, restaurant and a solar power support system.
According to the statement, the Mini-Sports Complex would also serve as a Centre for promoting sporting activities among the constituents as well as other recreational activities.
Also billed for inauguration in the community is a 1.3km road project equally facilitated by Senator Akpan.
