Security Chiefs, INEC Strategise Ahead Jos North/Bassa Bye Election

In an effort aimed at ensuring a hitch-free bye election for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency  in Plateau State, security agencies in collaboration with the Independent National  Electorial Commission (INEC)  have held a inter agency meeting.


  The meeting which was co chaired by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka and Alhaji Hussaini Halilu Pai had in attendance all the security agencies who emphasized the need for a violence Free excercise scheduled for February 26, 2022.


  Pai who briefed the security chiefs on the modalities for the bye-election, solicited for cooperation and effective synergy among the military and para military personnel during the election.


He said everything possible is being done by the commission to ensure  that adhoc staff and other election officials are protected by security operatives on ground during and after the election.


 He solicited the cooperation of the members of NURTW and similar bodies in ensuring timely delivery of election materials.


 To ensure effective and timely distribution of sensitive and non sensitive materials, the commission’s boss explained that arrangements are being made to move the materials from the headquarters of the local government areas to the centers for the bye-election


According to him, the commission has also conducted a smooth bye election in Pankshin Local Government Area of the state without recording any violence.l.


The Commissioner of Police assured about the readiness of the state command to working in synergy with other security agencies for a violence free.polls.


Other security agencies at the meeting assured of deploying personnel, while calling on the people in the two local government areas to preach peace and avoid a bloody election.
