His Excellency, Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwolu has hailed the gesture by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) caretaker committee for bestowing on him, SWAN Support Walk honour.
Speaking on behalf of Mr. Governor after the Support Walk, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of information and Strategy, who was represented by Olumide Shogunle, said that His Excellency is highly overwhelmed with this special honour and show of appreciation from Lagos SWAN members.
He commended the passionate zeal of sports journalists and the significant role they continue to play towards sports growth through their excellent reports.
He urged Lagos SWAN members not to relent while discharging their professional duties and also ensure they build a more robust synergy with reputable institutions to promote sports marketing and boost sports relevance.
Shogunle therefore, thanked the Caretaker Executive Committee of Lagos SWAN for this beautiful initiative and also commended the proper coordination of the Secretary, Olatutu Oladunni for a well organised walk, saying it will also create more awareness of the good work of our Executive Governor.
Earlier in the day, the Caretaker Committee Secretary, Olatutu Oladunni, said, Sports in Lagos has always been a vital strength of economic advancement, integrating tool for social cultural growth and economic well-being. Sports in Lagos has taken another better dimension and which have brought about rapid improvement especially in the area of School sports among school children, creating an enabling environment for premium sports to thrive and bringing premium sports closer to the people ensuring a lay persons have access to modern sports facilities and ensuring every cause of security threat are disabled.
According to her” His Excellency Governor Sanwo-olu’s passion for sports cannot be quantified, and his genuine commitment towards sports growth in Lagos is highly impressive. Having host several reputable sports events, world Cup Qualifiers, school sports competitions etc, it is obvious Lagos is becoming greater and better. I wish Him well and its also an a challenge for him to do better cone 2023
Meanwhile the WALK started by 11:00am in the morning from Adebola House in opebi, through,ikeja amidst dancing and singing to appreciate His Excellency Babajide Olusola .
