Robbery Suspect Killed As Police Apprehends 2 Others, Recovers Firearm, 104 Live Ammunition In Delta

An armed robbery suspect has met his waterloo in a gun duel with police operatives, with two others arrested.

The breakthrough occurred during two different operations, in which one locally made gun, 104 live cartridges and four expended cartridges were recovered. 

One of the robbery attack was said to have happened along Jesus Avenue in  in Umusadege quarters in Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA, where a team of from Kwale Division led by the DPO CSP Godwin Igochie engaged some armed robbers in a shoot out.

According to report, one of the hoodlums sustained fatal gun shot injury during the melee, while others escaped. He was said to have died later in the  hospital while receiving treatment, 

It was gathered that one locally made gun, four live cartridges, and four expended cartridges were recovered from them.

The second incident was said to have involved

the  Anti Crime Patrol team attached to ‘C’ Division Asaba while on stop and search duty at the head-bridge Asaba and four suspected robbers on a motorbike.

Our correspondent gathered that two out of the suspects were arrested with a black polythene bag in which 100 rounds of 7.62MM AK 47 live  ammunition were hidden.

The duo of Michael Reuben, 29yrs and Odemba Onochie, 30yrs, both of Okoanala Oko in Oshimili South LGA of Delta State were arrested in connection to the incident.

The police public relations officer DSP Edafe Bright who confirmed both incidents in a release, said the command has launched manhunt for the other fleeing suspeects, while Investigation is ongoing.

It reads, ” On 21/6/2022, the DPO Kwale Division received a distress call that an armed robbery operation was taking place along Jesus Avenue in Umusadege quarters in Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA, the DPO Kwale Division CSP Godwin Igoche Mobilized and led the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol team to the scene, the suspects on sighting the police, engaged them in a gun duel, during which, one of the hoodlums sustained bullet injuries while others escaped. 

” One locally made gun, four live cartridges, and four expended cartridges were recovered. The injured suspect was taken to the Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. Manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.

” On the 20/06/2022 at about 0830hrs, the Divisional Anti Crime Patrol team attached to ‘C’ Division Asaba while on stop and search duty at the head-bridge Asaba, Delta State intercepted an unregistered KC Sanya motorcycle conveying four men including the rider, one of them holding a black polythene bag. 

” Upon sighting the Police, they abandoned the bike and took to their heels, the Officers gave them a hot chase culminating in the arrest of two of the four suspects namely; Michael Reuben ‘m’ 29yrs and Odemba Onochie ‘m’ 30yrs, both of Okoanala Oko in Oshimili South LGA of Delta State. In the black polythene bag in possession of one of the suspects, Michael Reuben, one hundred (100) rounds of 7.62MM AK 47  live ammunition were recovered hidden inside the bag. Manhunt for the other fleeing suspects is ongoing”.
