Rivers NIS Comptroller Felicitates Journalists On World Press Freedom Day

The Comptroller of Immigration Service Rivers State Command James Sunday has felicitated  the Members of the press in the state and the country in general for adequate dissemination of news and reportage. 
Comptroller James, who was a former Head of Media and Publicity for the Nigeria Immigration Service, appreciated the roles played by the media in broadcasting most developmental activities of the service as well as assessing and reporting  areas that requires improvement objectively.
Pointing out that a free press is a free society, James said the Nigeria Immigration Service has enjoyed tremendous support as a service and partnership in critical areas of operations and public enlightenenent. 
In a statement by the Rivers State Command Public Relations Officer, James asserted that the Service in Rivers State has received boost in reporting achievements as well as improvement where necessary without taking for granted areas that needs redress in the operations and services we render to the public.”, he pointed out.        
The Comptroller also cease the occassion to appreciate and score the Comptroller General of Immigration Service Isa Jere Idris,MFR, high for his respect and tolerance for press freedom and commitment to work with the media as partners in progress and in advancing the cause of good leadership of the service.
” Considering the background of the Comptroller General Jere,  a season, Mass Communication graduate and friend of the media, a quality that endears him to giving the press free hand whenever they come calling and  requesting for informations on the activities of the service, since he came on board”, Comptroller James said             
Comptroller James, a former Image Maker of the Nigeria Immigration service, said that the press enjoyed excellent relationship, collaboration, partnership,freedom in accessing informations they may require without compromising National Security from NIS.                
He enjoined the members of the press to be fair, just and ethical to the core value of journalism as they discharge their duties of reporting news findings,interviews and news covered about the service both at the National and Command levels for public consumption and education.          
James wished members of the media a very peaceful World Press Freedom Day and new horizon in the discharge of their job.
