Rivers NIS Commences Operation Tsaron Iyaka To Flush Irregular Migrants,  Others

The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced operation ” Tsaron Iyaka” aimed at flushing irregular migrants out of the state and other criminals violating the ECOWAS Protocol and other laid down provisions of the Immigration Act 2015 and Regulations 2017 and other extant laws of the country.      

Operation ” Tsaron Iyaka” which connotes Operation Border Security, according to the Rivers State Comptroller of NIS Sunday James, was a fallout of the meeting had in Akwa Ibom  State with the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration Service Caroline Wuraola Adepoju fsi  who paid a 2day working visit to Akwa Ibom and visited Marine Control post in the state along other Comptrollers in Zone E of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Aimed at taking maximum advantage of the Actiing Comptroller General of Immigration Service directive, the Rivers Comptroller decided to be proactive by commencing the operation with his operatives  by combing spots,hideouts and harbour where suspected Non Nigerians Irregular Migrants  are, with a mission to apprehend,arrest and bring to book any individual or group of irregular migrants discovered to be residing without appropriate valid documents both for entry,residence or work in an effort to rid Rivers State of undocumented Irregular Migrants who might be into dubious,clandestine or nefarious activities and escape tracing whenever they commit any crime or are involved in any untoward activities tantamount to insecurity to live and properties of people in Rivers State.        

The Command Public Relations Officer ASI Nwosu Chukwu made the disclosure in a release made available to New Nigerian Newspaper at the weekend.

It reads, ” The Comptroller of Immigration Service Rivers State Command James Sunday, PCC briefed the Media of the commencement of “Operation Tsaron Iyaka” in Rivers State.    

“:The Comptroller said this is a fallout of the meeting they had in Akwa Ibom  State with the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration Service Caroline Wuraola Adepoju fsi  who paid a 2day working visit to Akwa Ibom and visited Marine Control post in the state other Comptrollers in Zone E of the Nigeria Immigration Service were in her entourage,notably Comptrollers from Akwa Ibom,Abia,Cross River, Ebonyi,Rivers  and Marine Units  in Akwa Ibom State Command was visited to assess blue border operations,activities and economic activities taken place.                             

”  Rivers State being a Riverine and Coastal state has similar terrain ,the Comptroller James Sunday , said” Operation Tsaron Iyaka” which connotes Operation Border Security is my take from the meeting and in order to take maximum advantage of the Actiing Comptroller General of Immigration Service Caroline Wuraola Adepoju fsi directive,I decided to be proactive by commencing the operation with our operatives in Rivers State combing spots,hideouts and harbour where suspected Non Nigerians Irregular Migrants  are, with a Mission to apprehend,arrest and bring to book any individual or group of irregular migrants discovered to be residing without appropriate valid documents both for entry,residence or work in an effort to rid Rivers State of undocumented Irregular Migrants who might be into dubious,clandestine or nefarious activities and escape tracing whenever they commit any crime or are involved in any untoward activities tantamount to insecurity to live and properties of people in Rivers State.        

“:The Nigeria Immigration Service Rivers State Command has commenced the operation immediately and will last until the service in the state is satisfied that Irregular Migrants have left on their own,regularise their documents and their community adhere strictly to the ECOWAS Protocol and for others, laid down provisions of the Immigration Act 2015 and Regulations 2017 and other extant laws of the country.      

” The Comptroller James assured those that are law abiding and regular of protection to their businesses,life and properties in Rivers and advise the Community or Association Leaders to come forward with the up to date list of their members in Rivers State for proper documentation with the Nigeria Immigration Service”.
