As part of activities to mark the birthday of the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives accompanied by other National Assembly members, has embarked on commissioning of projects attracted by Comrade Chinedu Ogah in different parts of his constituency.
Comrade Ogah was accompanied by National Assembly members, including the member representing Ekwusigo, Nnewi North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Nwachukwu; the member representing Igboetiti/Uzouwani Federal Constituency, Hon. Stainless Nwogu, Hon. Favour Ogbonnaya, among others, stakeholders, friends and well wishers to commission projects located in different parts of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency.
Some of the places visited for the commissioning of projects in Ikwo include, Echealike community for Commissioning of rural electricity project like transformer, solar street lights; Ndiagu Achara for commissioning of four class rooms block and Akwakwa Bridge, among others.
The commissioning climaxed with a town hall meeting at the College of Education, where the honourable members met with the constituents to get their feedback on the achievements so far, and also to identify where needs more attention in order to be captured in subsequent projects of the lawmaker.
Speaking to newsmen after the Commissioning, Hon. Favour Ogbonnaya commended Comrade Chinedu Ogah for the outstanding performance in his constituency, saying that the unimaginable achievements will make others to hold their representatives to ransom to be effective and accountable to the people they are representing.
He noted that reaching out to the people that elected the lawmaker will make him identify their challenges and find a way of proferring solution to them as exemplified by Comrade Ogah.
“If you take advantage of all these commissioning that are ending today, you will come back, hold your representatives to give account of all they did. This is what we call elevative representation. You need to see what the honourable member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency did, and they are asking him, are you the president of Federal Republic of Nigeria? He has capacity to deliver on his mandate. It is that capacity that attracted these projects.
“So, town hall meeting is the apex, reaching out to the people. My people say, “you cannot smell the mouth of someone, until you go closer to the person.” This is exactly what Chinedu has done by reaching out to feel their pains, impact, and then have something to present when he goes back to Abuja.”
Also speaking, the member representing Igboetiti/Uzouwani Federal Constituency in Enugu State, Hon. Stainless Nwogu appreciated the efforts of Comrade Ogah in attracting numerous projects to the people he is representing, stating that his performance is a big challenge to other National Assembly members who are battling to achieve such feat.
He added that the expections from his constituents are very high, but he will follow the footprints of Comrade Ogah to replicate same to his people.
“I am a little bit confused based on the fact that, I asked my colleagues, this constituency allowance every year, like how much am I expecting.
“What Chinedu Ogah has done by all these commissioning of projects like class rooms block, boreholes, road and so forth, my worry as a colleague in National Assembly is that.the money I am expecting, may not be enough to actualize what I saw. But just as I said earlier, I will learn and tap from his grace.
“I am a Labour Party (LP) member, the expections from my people are so high. I will be happy if I achieve 70 per cent of what Chinedu Ogah has displayed,” he disclosed.
