*Demand State Assembly Speakership

Concerned politicians in Northern Senatorial Zone of Kaduna State have raised alarm over alleged  imbalance in political positions sharing in the state.

Speaking to journalists in Zaria on the position sharing,, Alhaji Bako Kabiru, a politician from Wuciciri, said it is time to check and address their observations on the matter.

He pointed out that for equity and justice in the sharing formula,  the Northern Senatorial Zone deserves to have the state Assembly Speaker position, since Central has Governor and Southern Zone has Deputy Governor.

Bako said, presently, the occupant of the Speaker’s seat is not in the Assembly, following the Appeal Court annulment of his election which ordered for an election in some polling units in his constituency.

According to him, the State Assembly cannot run without a substantive leader, ” Speaker” particularly when it comes to budget passage.

He said if the speakership is given to the Northern Senatorial Zone,

the political sharing will be balanced.

Bako  Wuciciri pointed out that the Northern Senatorial Zone has qualified representatives who served more than three  terms in the Assembly.

He  advised INEC to consider  conducting the election at the polling units as directed by the Appeal Court so that his constituency will enjoy the representation of their area.

Alhaji Bako Kabiru expressed hope that Governor Uba Sani will keenly address this imbalance of political positions sharing formula which marginalized Zone 1.
