A prominent Yoruba socio-cultural group, Maja-Maja on Monday, alerted that politicians in Yorubaland have forgotten the slain Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation,  Late Chief Bola Ige, (SAN).

Maja Maja raised the alarm in a statement by its Coordinator, Comrade Adedina Akinpelu made available to journalists in Ibadan

According to the socio cultural group, it was unfortunate that no Yoruba politicians celebrated late Chief Ige 22 years after he was gruesomely murdered in Ibadan.

The group maintained that it was a pity that Yoruba politicians particularly those that benefitted from the political dynasty of late Chief Bola Ige are not celebrating the late politician today.

“Since the Cicero of Esa-Oke died, Yoruba politicians have refused to celebrate him, except when some so called progressives wanted to sell the candidacy of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to the Southwest people in 2011 that they brought him to Ibadan to come and deliver a lecture in honour of the late Minister”, it said.

Maja Maja added, “Since then, nothing meaningful has been done to celebrate late Chief Bola Ige. Even  now that a Yoruba President is ruling Nigeria, nobody remembered the late politician.

“Governor’s of South West states are not helping the situation. But we are of the opinion that if other South West governor’s refuse to celebrate late Bola Ige, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State should do something”.

Maja Maja stressed further that it is unfortunate that many of the political associates of the late minister have abandoned the family.
