Police Nabs 5-man Syndicate, Recovers AK-47

Katsina State Police Command in its ongoing fight against all forms of Crime and Criminality in the State has  succeeded in arresting a five-man syndicate of thieves and recovered one AK-47 rifle in Kakumi Village of Bakori Local Government area of the state.

The command’s Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu who disclosed this in a statement, said that, it was on December 19, 2023, based on credible intelligence, operatives of the Katsina State Police Command attached to Bakori divisional police headquarters, in collaboration with members of the vigilante led by the DPO, successfully identified and apprehended the five (5) suspects.

The suspects include,  20 years old Sharhabilu Dahiru, Abubakar Tukur, 25 years, Kasamanu Abdullahi, 20 years, Abdulrahman Shu’aibu, 20 years and Sulaiman Sanusi, 20 years.

 Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sadiq Aliyu said the Suspects who are all from Kakumi village were arrested in possession of the AK 47 rifle by the Police while on an intelligence led patrol along Kakumi area of Bakori local government Katsina State.

He said upon questioning, the suspects promptly confessed to having stolen the said firearm from the residence of one Jamilu Lawal, alias “Kifda,” of the same address.

Accordingly, he said due to the seriousness of the crime committed, Mr. Lawal was immediately invited for further investigation to shed more light on the circumstances leading to his possession of the prohibited firearm. 

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said all the suspects are in the Police custody as investigation proceeds.

He  urged people of the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious criminal activities they may observe. 

The Katsina state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa reiterated the command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of lives and property of the People of the state and further praised their usual and continuous support for the command and other security agencies in the state.
