The Oyo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) would on Saturday, hold the 5th edition of the annual Shina Peller Ramadan Lecture/Iftar .
According to a statement jointly signed by the Oyo State NUJ Chairman, Alhaji Ademola Babalola and Secretary, Sola Oladapo, the Ramadan lecture will hold by 4pm at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku Ibadan.
The statement stressed that the lecture titled, “Inescapable Rewards of Kept, Unkept Promises in Public Offices: The Islamic Perspective” would be chaired by the sponsor, Hon. Shina Peller, who is also the Ayedero of Yorubaland.
Oyo NUJ maintained that the lecture would be delivered by a renowned Saudi Arabia-trained Islamic Scholar and prominent Alfa in the Chief Imam of Ibadanland-Council, Sheikh Hashim Atere and that the lecture is apt and timely ahead of the inauguration of newly elected public office holders from the just concluded general elections.
The union stressed that the lecture aims at sensitizing current and elected public office holders on the need to keep their electioneering promises, adding, ” it will highlight the rewards inherent in keeping and not keeping promises as stated in the Holy Quran.”
Appreciating Hon Shina Peller who has consistently sponsored the annual lecture with great commitment, NUJ prayed that Almighty Allah continues to bless him bountifully.
It pointed out that the lecture scheduled to commence by 4.00pm, would be rounded up at 7.00 p.m with Iftar (breaking of fast) at the same venue.
