Oyo LG Polls: NOA Reiterates Importance Of Citizens Participation

The Oyo State Directorate of the NOA on Tuesday, expressed  determination towards ensuring mass mobilisation for the April 27 local government election in the state.

According to a statement on Wednesday by the Head of Media and Publicity in the agency, Mr Isiaka Adeniyi, NOA has extended its sensitisation and public enlightenment to the people through media houses.

Mr Adeniyi stressed that aside from the advocacy campaigns to relevant stakeholders including churches, mosques, community leaders,  youths, women and markets in the State, NOA has also crowned its efforts with visitations to media houses to ensure that the messages reach a wider audience, especially the grassroots. 

He disclosed that within a week, NOA has employed a media mix to educate the populace on the need to come out en mass to vote for their chosen candidates without let or hindrance, adding that the NOA State  Director while featuring on a radio programme on YES FM in Ibadan highlighted the importance of Local Government as the closest and most accessible tier to the people as the people can not engage freely with the other tiers the way they do with the local government officials in their domains. 

According to Mr Adeniyi, he State Director sanother radio programme, “Ayekooto” on Splash FM, noted that for the first time in the history of the local government election, over 19 parties are participating because of the trust  in the Barrister Isiaka Olagunju-led OYSIEC to conduct a free and credible election. 

Also featuring on Compass on IBR 92.5 FM to drum support for  OYSIEC and called on the citizens to troop out in an orderly and peaceful manner to vote come April 27,2024, urged the voters to shun electoral malpractices such as ballot stuffing, void votes,   violence and other ills that may impinge on the democratic process.
