The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West, Senator Isaac Kekemeke on Thursday, disclosed that the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is solidly behind the candidature of Senator Teslim Folarin as the APC  governorship candidate in Oyo State for the 2023 general election.

Senator Kekemeke made this clarification in Ibadan during his meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC)  chairmen from across the South West states.

The South West APC Chairman at the meeting, faulted the claim by the Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo State, Chief  Adebayo Adelabu that Asiwaju Tinubu  is aware of his defection from APC to Accord Party, describing it as false.

According to Senator Kekemeke, ” it is unthinkable for anyone to say the presidential candidate of the APC will support another governorship aspirant in the state.

“It is unthinkable and ‘un-Asiwaju to do such a thing. Like you all know, our candidate in Oyo State is Senator Teslim Folarin and that is Asiwaju’s preferred candidate”, he said.

The APC SW  Chairman added, “nobody should drop Asiwaju’s name in a bid to sell him or herself. To us in the party, from Abuja to the South-West to the state level, Sen. Folarin is our candidate and he is the one all of us would support in the election.”

Speaking further, Senator Kekemeke stressed that the ongoing reconciliation exercise in Oyo State has been yielding positive results with peace  gradually returning to the party in the state.

“Luckily, I met the chairman of the reconciliation committee, Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, and he told me about how far they have gone. I know we are almost getting there, peace is gradually returning,” he assured.

While speaking on the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Senator Kekemeke pointed out that what Nigerians are yearning is a pan-Nigeria president and not of religion.

“I am a Christian and I don’t have issue with it,”  he pointed out.
