The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Sports Development to Osun State Governor, Isiaka Oyetola, Mr Vincent Akinbami has reeled out plans of the governor in his second term.
Speaking to our correspondent on phone, he said that sports will be a major focus of the governor.
“He is planning a lot for sports in his second coming. Governor Isiaka Oyetola has promised to change the face of sports in his second term, by getting new equipment for various sports, supporting the discovery of talents, bringing back Osun State indigenous athletes doing well in other states, permanent contract for sports staff doing well and using performance as yardstick for promotion of sportsmen and women,” he said.
He added that the governor wants to use sports to take youth away from the streets and promote the combination of schooling alongside sports.
“Sports is a big industry on its own and Governor Oyetola is ready to exploit that avenue to increase the GDP of the state,” he assured.
