Ooni’s visit to Alaafin, a sign of Yoruba unity – Agoro

The Owa’Tapa of Itapa, Dr Olapade Agoro has lauded the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi over his fence mending suprise visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi on Sunday.
The royal father stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on the Ooni Ogunwusi’s visit to Oyo to attend the Alaafin’s 45years on throne celebration.
Dr Agoro declared that with the historic visit to Oyo, Ooni Ogunwusi has “set the ball rolling for the peaceful coming together of all the lost sons and daughters of Oduduwa,” saying, “Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi last Sunday January 17, 2016 paying first of its type since 1937 epoch making surprise visit to Oyo town to celebrate with the Alafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi , Iku Baba Yeye on his 45th anniversary ascending to the throne of his forefathers, must be seen first of its type wall of peace mending among the unnecessarily feuding over nothing among Yoruba Obas”.
“Irrespective of how anybody will like to see it, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi,  has set the ball rolling for the peaceful coming together of all the lost sons and daughters of Oduduwa. Incidentally the commanding slogan of the ruling party in Nigeria now is ‘Change’ thus forewarning the very change needs and necessities of the Yoruba people and the race coming together now for the peace, progress and development chasing, avoiding distractions and allowing not into reckoning worst things of the past that kept us divided,” he said.
The Owatapa maintained that there is no doubt in the fact that “Alaafin of Oyo is a prime factor in the historical placement of the Yoruba race and that Ooni is the Arole Oduduwa can never be subjected to  disputes unless by good for nothing rabble rousers”.
He then urged other traditional rulers, religious leaders as well as prominent Yorubas to ensure the sustenance of the peace move initiated by Ooni Ogunwusi with the visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, saying, “since the Yoruba race and people will normally and of customary necessity give meaningful name to a newly born child, this very necessary wisdom visit of the Ooni to the Alaafin of Oyo must as well be appreciated without equivocation by all discerning minds is customary to his name ‘Enitan’ literarily meaning ‘a person of history making’ importation and connotation repeating and confirming”.
“Let it be noted that unless the spirit of forgiveness, give and take is allowed now and thereafter, there will be found no house of the Yoruba race and people that will not have a story to tell of having been one time or the other offended by somebody along the line”.
