As politicians get set for their electioneering campaign ahead the 2023 general elections, they have been challenged to engage in only issue based campaigns.
Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL/FCDO). Kaduna State Team Lead, Mr. Abel Adejor gave the challenge at a One-day Public Dialogue With Candidates On Agenda Setting For the 2023 General Elections has been held in Kaduna on Wednesday July 20, 2022.
Adejor who expressed this in his welcome remarks, said that they are emphasizing issues based campaign in 2023 because it would translate to better dividends of democracy to the electorate.
He said issues like education, health and others that were validated at a previous meeting, were presented and they are to be used in engaging political office holders ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“We are looking at dialogue that would inform service delivery in our communities. That will ensure service delivery at the grassroots,” he said.
He urged the media to project what was discussed at the dialogue to the public to create more awareness on the importance of issue based campaigns.
“We are happy that our media friends that are here, take what we discuss to the public. We thank the IT team that are streaming this live. I thank you sincerely and I welcome all of us,” he said.
The dialogue was organised by the Partnership for Issues-Based Campaign in Nigeria (PICaN) under its project, The Agenda, with support of the Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL/FCDO).
