*575 inmates still at large, 300 recaptured

The Controller of Corrections, Oyo State Command on Saturday hinted that no fewer than 575 inmates that escaped during the Friday attack on the Abolongo Correctional centre Oyo town are still at large.
Besides, New Nigerian learnt that during the gunmen attack on the centre, one inmate and three security operatives were feared killed.
It was gathered that no fewer than 300 of the escaped inmates have been recaptured.
According to a statement by the Oyo State Corrections Command Public Relations Officer, DSC Anjorin on behalf of the Controller of Correctional, Oyo State Command, Mr. Noel Ailewon no effort will be spared to recapture the fleeing inmates .
When our Correspondent visited the Abolongo Correctional centre, the observatory towers, residence of the head of custodial centre, and the iron door at the entrance of the main building were seen with bullets holes with the door shattered by an explosive.
Also, the recaptured inmates were seen been led into the Correctional centre in a mini black maria together with another big black maria amidst heavy security.
Security has however been beefed up in and across the area as efforts were intensified on searching for the fleeing inmates.
