A governorship aspirant in the 2016 governorship election of Ondo State, Mr. Segun Abraham, has indicted the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), over what he described as “the dwindling popularity of the party in the state*.
Abraham who stated this after a meeting with the members of the party said removing the chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke, will not in any way solve the crisis rocking the party in the state.
Speaking on behalf of Abraham, the Director General of Abraham Support Group, Mr. Kunle Eko-Davies, said the embattled Chairman of the party provided quality leadership by ensuring that the party won the last governorship election.
The group how ever rejected Adetimehin since according to him, Kekemeke did not deserve to be maltreated by the party, “because of his honesty, resilience, resourcefulness ,integrity and loyalty”.
His words, “to avert all these and put the party on sound footing ,the leaders and follower in APC should rally round our indefatigable chairman, Barrister Kekemeke to move the party forward.
“We have absolute confidence in his leadership and that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Dr. Abraham, We believe that they can bring back the popularity of the party in the state.”
Eko_ Davis noted that APC was not on ground in state, but was brought into limelight in the state by Kekemeke by winning two out of the three senatorial seats, five out of nine House of Representatives seat against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Kekemeke, the group said, delivered the governorship seat for APC after fourteen years. His popularity coupled with his love for hard work, and Chief Segun Abraham and our national leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, put APC in forefront in the state.
“Kekemeke used the resource of APC judiciously for the benefit of the grassroots ,built the party structure and made the party second to none in the state.
“The two Senators and House of Representatives members including the governorship elections were won because of the popularity and hard work of Chief Segun Abraham ,Hon. Isaac kekemeke and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He however alleged the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Ade Adetimehin, of working against the party in the 2015 election, because his candidates failed to secure the ticket of the party for the election.
He said “Adetimehin and his groups misused the resource of APC and worked for PDP in the Senate/ Reps elections because their candidates did not win the primaries in the Central Senatorial District.
