*plan to beat January, 16 ultimatum

Kingmakers in Ibadanland otherwise known as the Olubadan Advisory Council are to hold another crucial meeting this Tuesday on the final selection and emergence of the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.
New Nigerian reliably gathered that the Tuesday meeting billed for the Olubadan palace, Mapo area of Ibadan was part of the last minute moves by the Kingmakers at meeting up with the January, 16 deadline for the submission of the name of the next Olubadan to the Oyo State Government for approval.
According to a circular with reference number OAC/1/260/72, dated January 6, 2022, signed by the Secretary to the Olubadan Advisory Council, K. Liasu, the kingmakers are statutorily empowered to take the decision on who becomes the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The circular entitled ‘Invitation to a Meeting of Ibadan Kingmakers” asked all the concerned Ibadan kingmakers to meet at Olubadan palace at Oja’ba, Ibadan, this Tuesday.
“I have been directed to invite you to a meeting of the Ibadan Kingmakers scheduled to hold as follows: Venue: Olubadan Palace, Oja’ba, Ibadan. Date: Tuesday, 11th January 2022. Time: 11:00 a.m. prompt”, he said.
Liasu added, ” Please attend personally and be punctual. Thanks. The sole business of the meeting, is filling of the vacant stool of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
It was gathered from sources close the Kingmakers that the Mapo palace meeting is expected to finalise the Kingmakers position as regards the appointment of the next Olubadan that would fill the vacant stool left by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji
Sources said in line with the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration of 1957, the 11 Ibadan kingmakers are the Otun Olubadan, Osi Olubadan, Ashipa Olubadan, Ekerin Olubadan, Balogun, Otun Balogun, Osi Balogun, Ashipa Balogun, Ekerin Balolgun, Iyalode and Seriki.
But as at present, the position of Seriki of Ibadanland remains vacant while the Iyalode may not be unavailable for the Tuesday meeting as she was said to be outside Oyo state.
