The lush green course of Ilorin Golf Club over the weekend, hosted more than 200 professionals and amateur golfers across the country that took part in the Club’s Captain Inaugural Golf Tournament organized to celebrate Alhaji Luqman Yahaya.
Samson Oladele of Ilorin Golf Club, playing handicap eight who returned with 65 nett emerged winner of the tournament while M. Malik also of Ilorin Golf Club and Sunny Agaga of the Tiger Golf Club ended up as the first and second runners-up respectively.
The respective winner and runner-up in the ladies category was Oladipo T. and A. Madungwo, both of Ilorin Golf Club, while Mary Okunola of Tiger Golf Club came third, all carting home mouth watering prizes during the closing ceremony of the presentation of the medals that was done inside the palatial hall of the Ilorin Golf Club.
The new Captain, Alhaji Luqman Yahaya in his speech appreciated the visiting captains of various golf clubs and all golfers that travelled down from far and near to celebrate with him, as he promised the members of Ilorin Golf Club a new dawn and best service delivery.
Golfers in their reactions while speaking with newsmen after the tournament praised the new Captain for the well-planned event and the beautiful hospitality offered by the members of Ilorin Golf Club. They described the club golf course, music and served dishes as one of the best in recent times.
“Alhaji Yahaya with his exposure and experience in the game of golf will surely take Ilorin Golf Club to the zenith in the golfing circle in the country as we can all attest to that with what was witnessed during this inaugural golf event”, said one of the participants.
