By; Bayo Akamo, Ibadan.
The eldest daughter of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade Princess Yemi Sowunmi, has said one of her late father’s unfulfilled dreams for Ibadanland was the non realization of the creation of Ibadan State during his reign as the Olubadan.
Princess Sowunmi stated this in Ibadan while speaking with journalists at the Monatan resident of the Late Oba Odugade .
She pointed out that the late monarch was however able to achieve and sustain peace and unity in Ibadanland and its environs throughout his about 9 years reign as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“My father has many dreams for Ibadanland but the only one he did not achieve was the creation of Ibadan state. He achieved his desired peace for Ibadan. He displayed so much love towards the building of a greater Ibadan. He is highly disciplined, very upright and God fearing and his love for the city of Ibadan cannot be quantified,” She said.
Also speaking, the first son of the late monarch, Professor Femi Lana described his late father as a philosopher king and a highly disciplined man, who sustained peace and work for the growth and development of Ibadanland and its people.
Other children of the monarch, Prince Gbade Lana and Princess Folashade Bankole Odulana in their separate chat with journalists maintained that the late Olubadan’s life is worthy of celebration because he left a lasting legacy.
