No Plan To Confiscate Ancestral Lands At Kake Village Without Compensation — Zaria LG Boss

Zaria Local Government  has said that  it has no plans to confiscate peoples land at Kake Village, without following  due process and ordered that everything should stop until all issues are resolved.

The chairman of the council, Engr. Aliyu Idris  stated this while reacting to the Letter of “Pre Action  Notice” dated August 8, 2023 by the Counsel to the owners of the lands and houses at Kake, Barrister A Y Mohammed of Excellencia Legal Consults sent to him. 

He said, people were misinformed about the whole process which made those with the land and houses  provoked.

Engr.  Idris said that there are good plans towards making the area  well developed.

According to him, it is not all the lands in Kake that will be affected but after the demarcation that is the time the affected lands will be known and the owners will be compensated accordingly.

The Chairman further said the planned layout will be of the benefit to the owners officially, because government will issues Certificates of Occupancy (C of Os) to them  after the exercise.

He assured the landowners that their lands will not be confiscated without compensation to the owners of the lands falls within the layout sketch.

“Also in agreement, the council will only deal with their lawyer on their behalf as well as we will not   entertain individuals in respect   to Kake lands,” he informed.

 Earlier, the counsel to the Kake landowners, Barrister A. Y. Mohammed sent a “Pre Action Notice” to the local government chairman that his clients will seek redress from a court of law if it insists on going on with the planned development on their lands.
