NITR Board Suspends DG Over Alleged Misconduct

The Governing Council of Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research (NITR) Kaduna has suspended the Overseeing Director General of institute, Dr. Felicia Nneka Enwezor for alleged gross misconduct.

The Council’s Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Haruna Lambu stated this during the first Board meeting at NITR Headquarters, Kaduna after the National Industrial Court judgment in Abuja.

According to him, the suspended Overseeing Director General,  Dr. Felicia Nneka Enwezor failed to respect and implement the court order delivered on the May 18, 2022 which reinstated the Governing Council of NITR.

The Chairman of the Governing Council,  Alhaji Shehu Haruna Lambu lamented that the suspended overseer refused to take lawful orders as directed, to convene board meeting despite council’s instruction.

 “Dr. Felicis Nneka Enwezor was absent from duty without overseeing capacity on many occasions. Other offences include insubordination, nepotism, illegal issuance of queries, demotion of staff and she also recalled more than 100 staff on training without dues process,” he said.

The Governing Council has therefore,  set up a disciplinary committee panel to conduct investigation and report wthin the next two weeks.

The committee will be chaired by a member of the council, Dr. Aminu Magaji and Barrister Abdulrazak Usman  serves as the secretary.

According to the governing council, the suspension will remain in force to give room for the committee to discharge its responsibility.

It also directed that the most Senior Director of Research,  Dr Joseph Joachim Ajakaiye  oversees the affairs of the institute with immediate effect.
