Nigerians speaks on expectations for a better 2016

With the dawn of a new year, Nigerians have called on government at all levels to initiate policies and programmes that will ensure the welfare of its citizens to ameliorate the suffering they went through in the year ending.
Our reporter who sought the views of people on their experiences and their expectations form government in the coming year noted that the Buhari-led government should evolve policies that would enhance the living standard of the people by ensuring the security of Nigerians and diversification of the economy become the watchword of government at all level.
Mrs Ngozi Nwakwuku, a trader in Kaduna said the security of the country should be upper most in the affairs of government with a view of ensuring free movement of people and goods to every part of the country, stressing that “With free movement in the country, it will allow free movement of farm produce to every part of the country and thereby reduce the high cost of feeding in Nigeria.”
Malam Nasiru Salisu appealed to government to ensure the elimination of
all forms of terrorism, corruption and other social vices that have become major setbacks in the country, adding that “Nigerians really suffered in the year 2015 especially in the areas of security and lack of good leadership in the land. We have been made to be slaves in our own country with our leaders stealing billions of naira on a daily basis.
“President Buhari who came with a message of change should in the coming year display his full programmes for Nigerians to enjoy because we have had enough from corrupt leaders in the past who stole almost all the resources that are meant for the development of the country.”
A student, Mr. James Umaru said the year 2015 was a memorable one in the history of the country, pointing out that it was a year many Nigerians died and property destroyed in the name of terrorism and stories of past leaders going away with billions of naira meant for the development of Nigeria. “I pray that the coming year will be a year of peace, unity and development so that we shall together enjoy what God Almighty has blessed us with in the country.”
He added that the present leadership in the country should make education at all level free for all eligible Nigerian children attain qualitative education for its overall development.
A destitute who pleaded for anonymity appealed to the government to introduce a policy that would take care of the physically challenged people in the society, noting, “We should be made to feel a sense of belonging in our own land with better education and job opportunities, some of us will contribute positively to the development of the country if given the necessary incentives.”
He called on relevant authorities in the country to evolve programmes that would take the physically challenge out of the streets by engaging them on productive activities for their overall welfare.
