A non-governmental organisation, Iwuese Multipurpose Cooperative Society (IMCS) in partnership with UN Women and Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) has commenced the training of 40 women each in agribusiness in Taraba and Adamawa states.

Addressing participants at the opening of the Training on Agribusiness Development and Market Value Chain Linkages in Jalingo, the Executive Director of IMCS, Ms. Ritdimwa Orga told beneficiaries that the training is aimed at transforming their lives through economic empowerment.

“We are working as a consortium of three women-led organisations in promoting early recovery for women and girls in Adamawa and Taraba states, especially in communities affected by conflicts.

“I want to thank UN women and WPHF for their funding and technical support to ensure that this intervention impact positively on families and communities at large. Without their funding and technical support we would not have been here.

“Our target is to provide support to you the women sitting here and beyond as well as transborder refugees and people with disabilities to ensure that your lives are transformed for the better.

“I urge you all to take the training seriously and participate actively so that our intervention will succeed when we go to your communities to support you with inputs and small agribusiness ventures,” she said.

Orga added that a similar joint training on agribusiness was held in Mubi North and South in Adamawa State a few days ago.

Some of the participants drawn from Jalingo and Gassol local government areas of Taraba State who spoke to our correspondent, including, Enudi Emmanuel, Sharifa Abubakar, and Stella Mbateren,  all appreciated IMCS for the training, noting that the knowledge gained would help transform their lives.
