The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has on Thursday December 23, 2021 donated relief materials to victims of recent gun attack in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The six communities of Ruheya, Kauran pawa, Marke, Turunkawa, Nasarawa and Sabon Gida were attacked on December 18 and 19 2021.
Ahmed Habib, the Director-General of the agency, made this known on Thursday while donating the items to the local government council.
According to him, the gesture is not compensation for the loss of lives and property, but a token to bring relief to the victims.
Represented by Alhassan Nuhu, the Director Relief and Rehabilitation of the Agency condoled with the Kaduna State government and its people over the loss of lives and property to the crisis.
He mentioned the items donated as 215 bags of rice, 215 bags of beans, 215 bags of maize, 12 bags of salt, 36 cartons of seasoning cubes, 22 kegs of vegetable oil, 430 pieces of mattresses.
Others are 430 nylon mats, 645 blankets, 430 mosquito nets, 430 buckets, 50 cartons detergents, 20 cartons tomatoes paste, 50 cartons of diapers, 50 cartons of toilet soaps and children and adult clothing.
The director urged the council to ensure that the items reached the victims.
Muhammed Mukaddas, the Executive Secretary KADSEMA, said the agency was here to commensurate with the people of Giwa over the unfortunate incident of gunmen attack in the local government.
He said SEMA had taken assessment to determine the level of damages of lives and properties encountered so as to make proper recommendations for support to the area.
He said that the agency has made available food relief items to alleviate the sufferings of the affected persons.
Mukaddas assured the people that the state government was doing all that is necessary to end the insecurity situation in the state.
Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, Abubakar Giwa, the Chairman of the council, thanked NEMA/SEMA for the gesture and quick response.
Giwa said that the council has already set up a committee to adequately monitor and distribute the materials.
