As part of efforts to keep boxers abreast of the most modern rules of the game as well as make them be at par with their colleagues from other countries of the world, the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) has concluded arrangements to organise a boxing seminar on Friday May 5.

The seminar slated for Brai Ayonote Boxing Hall of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos according to the President of NBB of C, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, is for boxers, managers, coaches, promoters, match officials, ring officials and every man and woman who loves boxing.

” We’re organising the seminar because boxing is no longer the sports we use to know in the 60’s. It’s now a dynamic sports and a game that brings money to practitioners to take care of their families and become employers of labour.

” They’re now  new tricks coming into boxing so fighters , coaches, managers and promoters have to be up to date with the modern day standard of the game, rules, ethics and their well being and discipline,” he said.

He announced that resource persons will be around to talk to the boxers and named some of them as himself, Dr Ilukwe who will be talking to  them on medicals and a seasoned referee/ judge from Ghana amongst others just as he assured that the seminar will be organised regularly.

Boxers are advised to register for the seminar as that will guarantee them certificates at the end of the one day event.

In a related development, the body has expressed happiness that one of it’s boxers Rilwan Oladosu has finally gotten American visa.

According to the  NBB of C President, the body has been on his visa for the past three years without success not minding that he has been given a work permit in the United States about two years ago.

Ladipo while commending Secretary General of NBB of C, Remi Aboderin for his role in obtaining the visa announced that very soon two Nigerian boxers will be going to fight in Japan with an assurance that the board will not relent in it’s efforts at repositioning Nigerian boxing.
